Our 4th show for the 25-26 season at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre was the play Good Night Oscar. A show about one night when Oscar Levant was on The Tonight Show and how his life and struggles play into his performance, our play takes place in multiple locations. The dressing room of Oscar Levant, the office of Jack Parr, the Tonight Show sound stage, and the piano stage.

This show consisted of two large flying walls, one with framing and paper to act as an “insulation” wall, and one with open framing and wire with a large sliding door at its center to act as the sound studio wall. Next, we had 4 rolling wagons, a piano wagon, a sofa wagon, the interview wagon and a chairs wagon. Next we had two large rolling units, the vanity unit and the buffet unit. We then had two “flipper doors” that flipped on and off stage, and lastly, we had multiple moving lights that we made stands for. I was responsible for the 4 wagons, the 2 large rolling units, the paper wall, and the flipper doors.

We had about 6 weeks to build the set, 2 days to load in and one day to load out with a team of 6, including myself and the Technical Director.
